Chapter Background

INCOSE is an international not-for-profit membership organization founded in 1990. The INCOSE mission is to foster the definition, understanding, and practice of World Class Systems Engineering in industry, academia and government.  The INCOSE goal is to encourage governmental and industry support for research and educational programs that will improve the systems engineering process and its practice.

The Los Angeles, California chapter of INCOSE endeavors to fulfill the goals of INCOSE for our chapter membership. INCOSE-LA currently has a membership of about 415 Systems Engineers from industry, government, and academia, mostly from the greater Southern California area. The board of directors continually seeks to offer a complete program of professional and social events to its members and the systems engineering community.

The INCOSE-LA Chapter generally holds a speaker meeting each month - on the second Tuesday of the month, two or three Tutorials per year, and an annual conference. As a benefit of membership, INCOSE members receive discounts at chapter meetings and events. Our calendar also includes social events such as community service projects, networking events, holiday parties and informal gatherings.

For most speaker meeting events, our speaker is present at a 'Host' site (often in the El Segundo area based on that being an area with a higher concentration of members), and we also offer the option of attending at one of our 'Remote Site Webcast' locations - at Pasadena (JPL), Santa Barbara (Control Point), Huntington Beach (Boeing) and Antelope Valley.  These meetings provide a great opportunity to hear about interesting systems engineering topics and to network with other systems engineering professionals.

Chapter Website and Newsletter
The Los Angeles chapter has its own website - http://www.incose.org/los-angeles  At our chapter website you will find information on upcoming and past activities. We encourage you to bookmark the site and to visit it periodically to stay abreast of ongoing activities.  We also publish a newsletter 6 times a year, which is mailed to you as another benefit of your membership in INCOSE-LA.  Occasionally a postcard reminder is sent. This newsletter seeks to inform you on chapter activities and topics of interest.  Past issues can be viewed on the website.

Email Reflector
Our chapter distributes periodic emails informing members and other interested parties of upcoming INCOSE-LA events. Members are not automatically included in this distribution list. If you wish to be included in this email distribution list, please send an email to reflector@incose-la.org and ask to be added to our INCOSE-LA Chapter Email Reflector.  You will get 3-4 messages a month about interesting System Engineering meetings and activities in our area.
