Certification Reconsideration Appeal

An applicant may be notified that his/her request for certification has been denied for one or more reasons, including the following:
• Failure to complete the certification process within the one-year time limit
• Did not submit missing application materials within the three-month time limit
• Doesn’t meet minimum requirements for education and/or experience
• Lack of minimum number of references to support experience
• References do not verify claimed experience

An applicant can submit an appeal to request a reconsideration of his/her certification application. The applicant should use the appeal form downloadable from the web site. On the appeal form, the applicant should explain in detail the reasons why his/her application should be reconsidered and should include documented evidence of the extenuating circumstances and/or additional information to be considered. The appeal form should be submitted to the Certification Program Office electronically at certification@incose.org or by regular mail at

INCOSE Certification Office
2150 N. 107th St., Suite 205,
Seattle, WA 98133-9009.

The Certification Advisory Group (CAG) will review the information submitted with the appeal and render a decision to the applicant. If the CAG agrees to the appeal, the applicant’s certification denial will be reversed. If the CAG disagrees with the appeal, the applicant will be notified by letter of the reason for denying the appeal for certification.

There will be no additional fee for the appeal. Each applicant will have the opportunity for one appeal per application, and that appeal must be filed within 90 calendar days of receipt of the denial of certification. Appeals associated with formal testing results or formal test support problems will not be considered.
