Model-Based Development and the Application of Abstraction Levels

Presentation Slides (1.86 KB ppt)

June 19, 2003, 5:00-7:00 PM

Presented by Mr. David Lempia
Rockwell Collins
Advanced Technology Center
Advanced Computing Systems

Interactive discussion on models and model-based development, in particular the various abstraction levels to which different system and software modeling tools and languages can apply. Many people use the word model when talking about requirements, UML, formal methods, or data flow tools like Simulink. Is everything a model? This talk will propose 6 levels of abstraction for a model. These levels span from requirements down to low level software design. The 6 levels of model abstraction help developers identify what part of a model they are working on and what some of the key attributes of each of the levels are.
