The Nominations and Elections Committee is pleased to present the 2006 slate of candidates for elected offices on the Board of Directors and the Member Board. Thanks to those who have agreed to run for office, and to the many persons who have considered holding office in INCOSE.
The official ballots were mailed from the Central Office on October 2. Please review the candidate biographies and visions for your region. Be sure to cast your ballot early to ensure it is received in the INCOSE Central Office in Seattle , Washington, USA , no later than 27 November. Please note that your region is officially determined by the headquarters of your chapter (not by your personal location), except for those members not affiliated with a chapter.
This year, we will be electing individuals to fill the following positions:

Secretary
The INCOSE Secretary is an elected, Officer Position with a two-year term of office. The Secretary serves as a member of the Executive Committee and a voting member of the INCOSE Board of Directors. As Secretary, this officer formulates agendas for all BOD and EXCOM business meetings, records the official proceedings and attendance at these meetings.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares Agendas for all EXCOM and BOD meetings
- Records and maintains minutes and attendance of all proceedings of the members and board of directors
- Maintains an INCOSE membership list, including the addresses of the members
- Provides guidance and assistance to U.S. Chapters on incorporation matters
- Participates in all BOD and EXCOM meetings
- Participates on other committees as assigned

Director for Communications
The INCOSE Director for Communications is an elected, Director at-Large position with a three-year term of Office. The Director of Communications is a voting member of the INCOSE Board of Directors and focuses on the effective positioning and promotion of INCOSE, its products, and services, utilizing multiple communication modes to increase awareness across diverse domains around the world.
Responsibilities:
- Develops an Annual and Strategic (Five Year) Communications Plan
- Prepares and Communicates Communications needs into the INCOSE Long Range and Annual Operating Plans
- Develops High Quality materials to support INCOSE’s communication and outreach efforts
- Publishes Quarterly INCOSE Insight Newsletter
- Publishes Periodic e-Notes
- Facilitates Effective communications both from INCOSE outwards and within INCOSE
- Directs the Operation and Maintenance of the INCOSE Website
- Participates in all BOD meetings
- Serves on other committees as assigned

DIrector for Strategy
The The INCOSE Director for Strategy is an elected, Director at-Large position with a three-year term of Office. This individual is responsible for developing and maintaining a broad level strategy to enable INCOSE to achieve its objectives. The Director of Strategy works closely with the President, President Elect and other board members to develop strategy, identify opportunities for implementation, evaluating effectiveness, and maintaining strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Participates in all BOD Meetings
- Develops, implements, assesses effectiveness and maintains INCOSE Strategy
- Serves on other committees as assigned
- Prepares, Coordinates and Communicates Strategy needs into the INCOSE Long Range and Annual Operating Plans

Member Board Regional Representative
The Member Board (MB) Regional Representative is an elected official representing the INCOSE members and chapters of the particular region from which he/she is elected. Regional Representatives need to know the leadership of, strengths and needs of the chapters in their respective regions. They should be available to receive member and chapter questions and seek out answers from various sources. They are also a vital conduit of information between INCOSE, the chapters, and the members. Regional Representatives should available to attend both IS and IW each year, including the Saturday before each event. If elected by the MB, a representative serves 2 years in turn Co-Chair and Chair of the MB. For these two years, they also serve as a voting member of the INCOSE BoD and should be prepared to attend a total of four BoD meetings each year, two of which are held at the IS and IW.
Responsibilities:
- Participates in MB monthly telecons
- Contacts each chapter in their region quarterly, at a minimum
- Attends meetings at all chapters in their region of responsibility to communicate INCOSE messages and gain better insight into Chapter issues
- Leads efforts to ensure their regional chapters are functionally healthy and meeting member needs
- Prepares quarterly reports on the health of their regional chapters, which are reviewed by both the MB and the BoD for actions as necessary
- Attends both the International Symposium and the International Workshop (see above)
- Represents the MB and the members by serving on INCOSE Top Priority project teams
- Serves as the lead for MB initiatives
