INCOSE Growth is Accelerating in Michigan and the Great Lakes

2010 will mark the 20th Anniversary of INCOSE. The celebration will be worldwide but Michigan and the Great Lakes region will be at the heart of the festivities. The INCOSE 2010 International Symposium (IS) will be held in Chicago, July 11-15, 2010. Members of the Michigan, Dayton Wright Brothers, Indianapolis, Cleveland Northern Ohio, St. Louis, and the newly forming Chicagoland INCOSE Chapters are currently involved in the planning of this milestone INCOSE International Symposium. Despite the economic downturn, INCOSE is experiencing unprecedented growth in the Great Lakes area. With this growth, INCOSE Michigan Chapter members can expect an increase in activity close to home. Below is just a sample of recent and upcoming milestone events:

  • Cleveland-Northern Ohio Chapter received the INCOSE Bronze Circle Award at 2009 IS (Singapore)

  • Chicagoland Chapter charter and start-up process initiated

  • Jack Stein (Michigan Chapter) elected General Chair of  INCOSE 2010 International Symposium (IS)

New Michigan Chapter Bylaws Approved

New Michigan Chapter bylaws were signed by Michigan Chapter Secretary Mike Gabel on May 26, 2009. According to new INCOSE rules chapters are required to review and refresh their bylaws every four years. The Chapter's bylaws were last updated in 2001 and were based on the original NCOSE Constitution and Bylaws template created in 1993. The new bylaws are created from the latest 2008 INCOSE template. A Chapter Bylaws Committee, headed by Chapter Director Dave Hubbard, drafted the bylaws and executed the voting process. The Michigan Chapter membership overwhelmingly approved the Chapter Bylaws by a 95% to 5% vote. Forty-two percent of the Michigan Chapter members participated in the voting process. Twenty-five percent participation is required for a quorum. Much thanks is due to the members of the Bylaws Committee and the Chapter members who participated in the voting process. The new bylaws place new requirements on the Chapter for creation and formal approval of Strategic Long-Term and Annual Operating Plans, and an Operations Guide. Members interested in creating these important documents are encouraged to contact a member of the Chapter leadership team. Chapter members will soon be asked to participate in an inclusive process to develop the 2020 Vision for the Michigan Chapter. The new bylaws may be viewed by clicking "Chapter Bylaws" at the bottom of the "Officers" page on this website. Contact information for the Michigan Chapter Officers and Committee Chairs is also contained in the "Officers" page.
