The INCOSE Systems Engineering Technical Vision is now available for member download from the Members Area of the INCOSE website. The next version, scheduled for the April-May timeframe, will be released externally and will be the baseline from which Version 2.0 will be generated in collaboration with several other SE professional organizations.
INCOSE is seeking members who are interested in supporting technical reviews. One of the activities of the new Technical Leadership Team is to develop a consolidated database of suitably qualified reviewers for our various publications, including papers, panels, and products. The role of reviewer is a critical part of INCOSE’s infrastructure, ensuring that INCOSE’s products meet professional standards. If you are interested in participating as a reviewer, please see the call for reviewers on the INCOSE website.
Graduate students performing research in systems engineering and integration are encouraged to apply for the INCOSE Doctoral Award. This award provides a $5,000 cash grant to the candidate, a plaque, and recognition at the INCOSE Annual International Symposium scheduled for 10-15 July 2005 in Rochester, NY, USA.
To be eligible for this prestigious award, the applicant must have been admitted to candidacy for the Ph.D. and have a research proposal approved by his or her doctoral committee. Additional details and application forms can be found on the INCOSE website. Applications from interested doctoral candidates must be received by 15 April for consideration.
Registration for the 3rd Annual Conference on Systems Engineering Research (23-25 March at the Stevens Institute Campus in Hoboken, New Jersey, USA) is capped at 250 participants due to space constraints. The conference includes 52 papers in 12 tracks plus keynote speakers such as Mr. Kelly Miller, Chief Systems Engineer, National Security Agency; and Mr. Mark Schaeffer, OSD (AT&L - Defense Systems) and Director of Systems Engineering, Department of Defense. The INCOSE website is in constant evolution with news postings, events, and other content changes. Three recent additions may be of particular interest.
- Information on the Systems Engineering & Architecting Network for Research (SEA-NET) has been added to the Advancing the Practice section. This includes a brief overview of the network plus research interests of the 2005 participants.The complete set of INCOSE policies and bylaws have been posted to the About INCOSE section.
- The My Chapters quick link on the home page has been upgraded to provide members direct access to their chapter website directly from the INCOSE home page. Now it's even easier to stay abreast of local and international INCOSE news and events.
The Communications Committee (Comm2) continues to expand its efforts on a broad range of communications, marketing, and public relations efforts. We're looking for a few interested members to help us take INCOSE communications to the next level.
- Join the INCOSE web team to oversee the continued evolution of the INCOSE website content and capabilities. Working with members from across INCOSE, the web team will keep the existing content fresh while adding material to reflect new INCOSE products and services. The team will also plan for new capabilities and provide basic support to chapters who host their websites on the INCOSE server.
- Join the Connect support team to help project teams, working groups, chapter leadership teams, and others leverage the new INCOSE Connect site. The INCOSE Connect site enables groups to overcome the challenges of distributed, asynchronous collaboration and. Support effective communities of practice through just-in-time training, best practices, and more.
- Become an Associate Editor for INSIGHT and work with Valerie Gundrum and the many INSIGHT contributors. Help us continue to improve this highly-rated member benefit. The associate editor will work closely with Valerie on the publication tasks ranging from theme planning to copy editing, as well as working with Comm2 as we evolve INSIGHT in the years to come.
