INCOSE eNote: News and Notes from the INCOSE Network
Volume 4 Issue 1, 8 January 2007
You have until 13 January 2007 to register for the INCOSE International Workshop 2007 (27 to 30 January). Unlike INCOSE's annual International Symposium, there are no paper or panel presentations. Instead, IW2007 will incorporate working meetings for groups engaged in INCOSE's major projects and in international standards development, opportunities for chapter leaders to meet and share best practices, support sessions to help you get the most out of INCOSE's shared working environment, and a broad range of other technical meetings.
IW2007 is only open to INCOSE members. Non-members can join prior to the IW for $55, giving 6 months membership up to the annual renewal date of 1 June 2007. For more information and to register, visit the International Workshop website.
The INCOSE Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Workshop will be held 25-26 January. The goals for the workshop are to provide a forum to:
- Review the INCOSE MBSE Vision 2020
- Share strategies among practitioners, educators and researchers to for making the MBSE vision a reality
- Identify enhancements to the vision
- Determine attributes that users need from MBSE tools to address different system life-cycle stages and system level views
- Discuss requirements for the enabling technology infrastructures to support MBSE
- Refine actions that INCOSE can take to achieve the vision.
For more information and registration details, see the workshop announcement.
Interested in SE certification? The Hampton Roads Area Chapter and Northrop Grumman are hosting an online tutorial providing an overview of the INCOSE SE Handbook to prepare for the certification exam. Taught by John Clark, the tutorial will cover the Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) process as well as the management and technical sections of the SE Handbook, Version 2a (the current basis for the certification exam)
Beginning 12 January, the tutorial consists of eleven weekly sessions Fridays from 1200-1330 EST. Prior to each session, participants are encouraged to read the appropriate sections of the handbook. Northrop Grumman employees can access the tutorial through their conference system or training course directory. Up to 30 non-Northrop Grumman employees may participate in the sessions as well. See the news announcement for further details and registration instructions. Registration is only required for non-Northrop Grumman employees.
CSER provides practitioners and researchers in academia, industry, and government a common platform to present, discuss and influence systems engineering research with the intent to enhance systems engineering practice and education. This year’s conference will be held on the Stevens Institute of Technology campus in Hoboken, NJ. For more information and conference registration, visit the conference website.
