The Florida Tech Graduate Council recently gave full approval for a new Ph.D. program in Systems Engineering which will start in Fall 2010. This program builds on Florida Tech's very successful Masters program in Systems Engineering which has been in operation since January 2003. This presentation will give you an early look at the program requirements, prerequisite courses, core courses, elective course options, and the dissertation process. Since the program is brand new, there are a number of policies that have not yet been finalized; where such is the case, explanations will be provided along with the proposed direction intended.
Barry Webster is an assistant professor of systems engineering and engineering management at Florida Tech. He teaches courses mostly in systems engineering, including systems engineering principles, decision & risk analysis, system requirements development, system architecture, and research methods, and recently introduced a new course in strategic decision-making using game theory. He also frequently teaches in corporate-sponsored programs for both Northrop Grumman and Harris. His research interests are artificial intelligence, decision analysis, and game theory. He is also going to be responsible for putting together the departmental policies for the new Ph.D. program.
