Purpose:
Inspire and recognize innovative doctoral-level research related to the field of systems engineering and integration. This award carries a $5,000 grant to the doctoral student along with a plaque and recognition at the Annual INCOSE Symposium.

Criteria:

  1. Advancement of the state-of-the-knowledge in systems engineering and integration
  2. Potential for the advancement of the state-of-the-practice of systems engineering and integration within the next 5 to 10 years

Application Process:

  1. A completed award application form. This form can be downloaded from the INCOSE website.
  2. Each applicant MUST have two faculty references submit recommendation letters on their behalf. Recommendation forms can also be downloaded from the INCOSE website.
  3. Completed application forms and faculty references must be received by 1 May of each year. (The award will be made at the annual INCOSE symposium)

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Status as qualified Ph.D. student in a degree program with research proposal approved.
  2. An applicant seeking the award must submit an application.
  3. Applicants may not receive more than one award.
 
Stevens Doctoral Award Recipients
Awarded 2009 - Ana Luísa Ramos
Ana Luísa Ramos holds an undergraduate degree in Management and Industrial Engineering (University of Aveiro-Portugal) and a Master's degree in Computer Science (University of Coimbra-Portugal). She is a Lecturer at the Department of Economics, Management and Industrial Engineering of the University of Aveiro, where she teaches, since 1997, Operations Management, Simulation and Statistics. Her current research interests include Systems Engineering methodologies, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and Modelling and Simulation.

Awarded 2008 - Renzhong Wang
a graduate research assistant and PhD candidate in systems engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology. His research proposes an innovative approach to architecture design and optimization inspired by the evolutionary processes of natural species.

Awarded 2008 - Jonathan Liscouet
a PhD candidate at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Toulouse (INSA Toulouse) in France. His research deals with the development of methods and tools supporting the design of systems of power systems.

Awarded 2007 - Jo Ann Lane
a research scholar and PhD candidate in the Systems Architecting and Engineering Group within the Viterbi School of Engineering at the University of Southern California.  The title of her research is “Understanding Differences Between System of Systems Engineering and Traditional Systems Engineering.”

Ms. Susan Vandiver, a Ph.D. Candidate in Systems Engineering at Southern Methodist University

Awarded 2005 - Gnana Bharathy
Mr. Gnana Bharathy, a Ph.D. Candidate in Systems Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania

Awarded 2004 - James Benjamin
Mr. James Benjamin, a Ph.D. Candidate in Management Science and Engineering at Stanford University

Awarded 2003 - Thomas Herald, Jr.

Awarded 2002 - Vassilis Agouridas
