Events

INCOSE events facilitate disseminating and sharing knowledge, expertise and information. They promote a common understanding of SE across industries and applications. Diverse events enable and support advancement of the state of the practice of system thinking, demonstrate the application of systems engineering across domains, and illustrate the prevalence and variety of practices worldwide. Events are a primary benefit of INCOSE membership for the individual and corporate members.

  • Events provide benefits to practitioners with respect to both job performance and career; the knowledge content of events has an identifiable value for professionals and for employers;
  • Events provide the opportunity to participate in a community of practice, to learn new skills, to reinforce existing skills, to share practical experiences and lessons learned, to become aware of trends;
  • Events facilitate interaction between practitioners and researchers from industry, academia and government organizations.

INCOSE events include:

  • An annual International Symposium (referred to as the symposium or IS). The designation “Symposium” is only used for this single annual international event. The technical content includes a broad range of topics, and its duration is at least four days.
  • An annual International Workshop (IW) hosted by the INCOSE Technical Leadership Team. This is a convocation designed to facilitate meetings of the Board of Directors, the Committees of the Technical Leadership Team and the Administrative Committees. The elected officials, volunteers, committee chairs and delegates interested in contributing to INCOSE work products are invited to participate. Its duration is at least three days.
  • Regional Conferences hosted by one or more chapters either singly or in collaboration with external organizations. They are defined as events spanning more than two (2) days and soliciting participation from members outside the geographic range of a single chapter.
  • Local conferences, seminars, tutorials or meetings sponsored and arranged by a chapter to serve the members of INCOSE in their area.
