Emerging Technologies Working Group

Charter
This Working Group has been set up to understand and recommend the process by which emerging technologies (& processes) can be integrated, seamlessly, into legacy, current and future systems.
Basically, how to use systems engineering to help embrace such “emerging” technologies.

Leadership
(Co-)Chair: Ayman El-Fatatry, BAE Systems SEIC
Co-Chair: TBD

Accomplishments and Products

  • A document summarising the INCOSE perspective on emerging technologies within the context of systems engineering.
  • A document with a list of processes used by organisations to help embrace disruptive/emerging technologies.

Current Projects

To date, the Group produced a top-level definition for the study, namely;
Emerging (and disruptive) technologies are a collection of technologies in their early development stages where Systems Engineering will enable their transition and insertion into current and future systems to enhance capabilities and/or provide new functionality.

    Currently, the Chair is collating responses to the following questions:
  • What is your understanding of "emerging technologies" ?
  • What is your specific interest in "emerging technologies" ?
  • How do you hope to address this interest via this INCOSE Working Group ?

To date, a number of responses have been compiled and placed onto the Connect workspace. Additional responses and/or commentary are always welcome. To provide a responses or comment or for access to the Connect collaborative workspace, please contact the Emerging Technologies Working Group.
