Charter
The Systems Security Engineering Working Group was established in response to observations that current methods of integrating security into systems and enterprises are not working – security is costing more (operationally and financially) and our vulnerability is holding constant or increasing. In response the Systems Security Engineering Working Group was established to identify or develop systems engineering methods to 1) provide security solutions that are harmoniously integrated into systems and 2) ensure that security capabilities and requirements are adequately considered in systems engineering activities.

Accomplishments and Products
- The Systems Security Engineering Working Group had a successful kickoff meeting at IW07. The group discussed the nature of the problem and agreed that the shared perception is that security is broke for a number of reasons. The group agreed that the working group presented a unique opportunity as a bridge between security domain expertise and systems engineers. The final result was identification of a first project/product, the security manifesto, and an initial outline of possible working group activities. A draft of the manifesto had been created by the 2008IW.
