" My 20 years of Failures at NASA -- A Talk on Lessons Learned "
Dr. Benjamin Goldberg
Pratt and Whitney, Space Propulsion
Program Abstract
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dr. Benjamin Goldberg, Pratt and Whitney, Space Propulsion, will be our speaker at the
January Meeting. Prior to joining Pratt and Whitney Space Propulsion as chief engineer
and director of engineering, Dr. Goldberg served as chief engineer for a number of
NASA Programs and special projects, the most recent of these at Marshall Space
Flight Center, the reusable Solid Rocket Motor Program, which he was named head
of in 1999.
A native of Atlantic City, N.J., Goldberg earned a master's degree in materials science
in 1983 from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. In 1992, he earned his doctorate
in materials science from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Goldberg came to the Marshall Center in 1983 as an engineer in the Materials and
Processes Laboratory. In 1994 he was appointed chief engineer for the Reusable Solid
Rocket Motor Program. He also worked as a senior scientist in Marshall's Space Sciences
Laboratory and served on the technical staffs of both the Propulsion and the Structures
and Dynamics Laboratories.
During his years at Marshall, Goldberg was honored with 13 Outstanding Performance Awards; five NASA Special Services Awards; a Director's Commendation; and a NASA Exceptional Service Medal for leading the effort to establish a national testbed capability at the Marshall Center.
Dr. Goldberg, an avid supporter of INCOSE, will be talking on lessons learned, in a talk he calls "My 20 years of Failures at NASA."
Join us for an exciting evening. Dr. Goldberg is an exciting, engaging speaker with loads of historical anecdotes and insights.
