International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) San Francisco Bay Area Chapter

April 8, 2003, Tuesday Evening Monthly Program

"Model-based Systems Engineering"
Presented by: Dr. Peter Hoffmann
Chief Methodologist for Systems Design
I-Logix

Program Abstract
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dr. Hoffmann will provide an overview of the state-of-the-art process for model-based systems engineering using classical structured-based and object-oriented (UML) methods. Special focus will be put on requirements traceability and model verification/validation through model execution and formal methods. Dr. Hoffmann has almost 3 decades of experience in the design and development of complex systems in the aerospace/defense industry (submarines, tanks, missiles and military aircraft) as well as in the automotive industry. As Director of the Simulation Department of the Missile Division at MBB, Germany (later DASA/EADS) he developed a methodology-based approach for modeling and analysis of flight control systems - especially through Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation. He has also worked internationally as a consultant for model-based system development in the aerospace, defense, and automotive industry. Since 1997, he has worked as the Director and Chief Methodologist for Systems Design at I-Logix.
If you would prefer to have Dr. Hoffmann to meet with you and your colleagues directly, this also could be arranged. Please call or send email to Dennis Andrews for more details. He may be contacted at (972) 612-8212 or dandrews@ilofix.com.
