Speaker: Bill Guthrie
Numetrics Managements Systems, Inc.
Cupertino, CA
About Numetrics:
Established in 2000, Numetrics Management Systems measures engineering performance and offers risk management tools to aid in planning and executing semiconductor development projects. Its rich and growing database of 1,200 IC design projects powers its software products and metrics generation engines. Six of the top ten global semiconductor companies use Numetrics products in their business processes to improve schedule predictability and reduce delivery risks. The company is currently expanding into embedded software development and may someday address the needs of large-scale systems design projects.
Topic: Metrics-driven Risk Management in IC Development
Bill Guthrie, EVP and co-founder of Numetrics, will talk about his company’s experience in gathering project data from hundreds of IC design teams around the world. He’ll explain their approach to creating useful metrics from these raw data measurements and also how they’ve used their database to build predictive models that reduce schedule risk. After describing what Numetrics has achieved for IC teams, he’ll invite audience comments on the applicability and practicality of such methods being applied to software and systems development.
Biography:
Bill Guthrie has over 25 years experience in the semiconductor, advanced packaging, EDA software and enterprise software fields, primarily in engineering and engineering management roles. His baccalaureate degrees were in electrical and mechanical engineering, and his masters degree was in business administration.
