Abstract:

To achieve competitive advantage, engineering enterprises adopting a matrix organisation need to realise the synergies of aligning engineering capability, project objectives and business imperatives. This paper explores these multi-facetted aspects of engineering strategy through the complementary perspectives of system product and engineering process, proposing that they should be managed and controlled through the business perspective of process improvement.
