Challenges for an Effective Application of SE in the Automotive Industry _ Advancing the Current State of Practice

Abstract. This interactive roundtable seeks to establish the current state of SE practice and to identify the main challenges for an effective application of SE in today_s complex Automotive Organizations. This particular insight on the automotive industry will put the light on the greater challenges faced by this industry, as well as on its strengths and shortcomings. Roundtable participants shall also strive to identify recommended SE practices and approaches to cope with these needs. If you would like to contribute to the _demystification_ of this one-hundred-plus year-old industry, you are more than welcome to attend.

Mike has held leadership positions in industry for over 25 years. His currently responsibility in the newly formed industry sector organization at Dassault Systemes are to: develop the overriding business strategy for the automotive segment by defining, testing and implementing industry specific _go to market_ plans. In addition Mike is responsible for alliance development for automotive including by identifying, building, and managing long-term relationships with strategic partners in the industry.
Prior to Dassault Systemes, Mike held various positions in Product Development at General Motors. Specific responsibilities included; creation and execution of the GM PLM strategy, global technology manager for human/vehicle integration and finally, the development of content and timing plans for vehicle exterior components; including those from North America, Germany and Brazil. Lastly, Mike spent 10 years at IBM where he was the Automotive Brand Manager for IBM_s engineering solutions for North America.
Mike earned his Bachelor_s degree in Industrial Engineering from Wayne State University (Detroit) and an MBA from New York Institute of Technology
