Mentors Wanted
IS2013 introduces a New Challenge in the City of Brotherly Love
What better location to begin a new tradition of members reaching out to new members and first-time symposium participants!
The Mentor Challenge is a Symposium-specific opportunity for seasoned IS attendees to help those new to this forum to maximize their International Symposium experience.
Mentors will increase the value of IS2013 for newer members of the INCOSE community by helping those new to the International Symposium make connections, and build personal relationships between systems engineers. They will also encourage participation by helping them navigate the sometimes complicated maze of papers, panels, roundtables and tutorials to find sessions of relevance to them.
The Mentor challenge is a volunteer-based activity with no lasting commitments beyond the IS2013; we only ask that seasoned veterans with a passion for Systems Engineering and the International Symposium extend a helping hand to those who are first time attendees.
For example: a new attendee to the International Symposium may not know what a “plenary” is or why they should attend, or; what they should expect in a panel discussion. Mentors have an opportunity to lend a hand, and help grow the Systems Engineering community, sharing their experiences, lessons learned, and the value that Systems Engineering has brought them in their day-to-day lives.
Sunday, 23 June – 1730-1900, come to the registration desk for a Mentor Meet & Greet
Tuesday, 25 June – 1230-1315, join the New Member Orientation lunch
Please take a moment to consider participating in the Mentor Challenge – either as a mentor or as a first-time attendee. No personal contact information will be shared by the committee. Any continued interactions beyond the IS2013 are at the discretion of the participants.
If you think this challenge is for you, then please indicate this when you register. Let’s all do our part in making this the best International Symposium to date – adding value for first-time attendees and the Systems Engineering community at large!
