IS 2013 Poster Evaluation Criteria
The IS2013 Student Division ‘Call for Posters’ has been expanded to include research in both the application and science of systems engineering, and the application of lean systems engineering. The winning author of the Student Division research poster will receive sponsorship to include student registration, travel, and lodging (maximum 1500 USD) to the symposium in Philadelphia. A second financial award of 1000 USD from the Lean Systems Engineering Working Group will be granted to the student who successfully integrates lean systems principles in their research.
The selection/evaluation criteria for the posters are:
- Does the research advance or enhance systems engineering? Has evidence been provided that shows that the results are easy to understand, apply, effective, and fully developed?
- Is the content substantive, addressing common SE principles, use of COTS, addressing global integration across systems of interest, addressing lessons learned, and does it constitute innovation in SE practices.
- Does the poster exhibit logical content from its thesis statement though presentation and conclusion with consistency in the arguments presented.
- Does the research integrate the principles of Lean Enablers for Systems Engineering (LEfSE), provide empirical quantification of the results before and after the application of LEfSE, and does the research show potential across diverse domains?
Additionally, IS2013 offers many opportunities for students to present their research, including the opportunity to discuss their poster with the symposium attendees in the exhibition hall.
IS2012
The INCOSE Student Division, under direction of Academic Matters, instituted the inaugural call for Student posters for IS2012 in Rome Italy. The winner of the poster evaluation against defined criteria received a sponsored registration to the symposium. The submission from Bhanuchander Poreddy, Amanda Gealy, Elizabeth Cudney, Suzanna Long, and Steven Corns from Missouri University of Science and Technology (MST) was selected as the winner for their poster on A Framework for Complexity Management: Virtual Forward Operating Base Camps. Dr. Steven Corns represented the winning entry in Rome at the Student Division Booth as seen below.
