The INCOSE International Workshop 2007 Outbrief

What Really Happens at INCOSE

INCOSE is a large international organization formed to promote the practice of world class Systems Engineering.  INCOSE sponsors symposia every summer where you can hear lots of good Systems Engineering papers, tutorials, and panels.  But does INCOSE really do anything to improve the practice of Systems Engineering?

The annual INCOSE International Workshop for 2007 was held 26-31 January in Albuquerque, New Mexico, four days of intense work by over 250 of the world’s best Systems Engineers for the sole purpose of advancing the practice and art of Systems Engineering.  This presentation is a summary of the INCOSE IW 2007 outbrief, which describes the activities and progress of eight international projects and 22 working groups.  Every one of these 30 projects and working groups have actual products in progress that address the challenges we face in the practice of systems engineering, and advance the state of the art.
If you have every wondered what INCOSE actually does, this is a great opportunity to find out.
If you have ever wondered how you can get involved in setting and advancing the state of the art in Systems Engineering, this presentation will open that door.

Our speaker, Mark Powell, is a 35-year veteran of the aerospace industry and is currently affiliated with SAIC here in Houston.  He also is a professor of Systems Engineering at the Stevens Institute of Technology, teaching Systems Engineering courses in both the Masters and Doctoral programs.  Mr. Powell serves INCOSE as the Assistant Director for Systems Engineering Management Processes, and participates in multiple INCOSE working groups.

Make plans soon to attend this seminar. Seats are limited. Come hear why previous attendees have said “the speaker is excellent,” “I would attend any presentation given by Mark Powell,” “dynamic speaker.”
