Derek Collins

Biography

Derek Collins earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in 1993 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  He began his career with A.R.T Associates, Inc. in Laconia, N.H., where he held a position as the Quality Control Manager.  Mr. Collins joined SAIC in January 1997 as a quality engineer in the Safety Reliability and Quality Assurance Directorate.  Mr. Collins has held progressively more responsible positions from International Space Station QA lead, to the Space Shuttle Power and Propulsion system safety lead.  Mr. Derek Collins is the SAIC Systems Engineering and Integration manager to the NASA Constellation Program.

 

Vision for the Chapter

My vision for the Gulf Coast INCOSE region is to accomplish three tasks.  The first of which would be to increase the appeal of the organization to a wider variety of professional engineers.  Second, encourage collaboration between systems engineers from the private sector and the government sector.  Third, leverage the diverse industry base in the gulf region to further impact and influence on a national and international basis INCOSE vision and strategies.  I am working with the chapter members and leadership to identify and resolve our needs.
