About the Speaker:
Martin Gallagher was born in Bolton England and has been active in multimedia development for a number of years: from entertainment production, to digital media design and currently developing 3D printing technology. Martin is currently
running the Space Coast Fab Lab, which enables K though 12 students, University Students and Local Community members to coordinate in projects and inventions.
Martin has a background in technology, which started with the British Army, Royal Signals division. As a communications specialist his duty was to setup and operate multiple communications networks and satellites to enable ground movement on and off the battlefield. This later transcended to Forward Air Control, laser marking and guiding jets to the targets controlling laser guided missiles. From that career he moved into the entertainment industry, providing shows around the world in many different countries, which led him to the USA.
While living in the USA additional time gave the opportunity to develop other career goals. Which developed into virtual photography and video production, along with real estate sales and marketing. The video production required special equipment development, which led to the purchase and subsequent development of the 3D printing products.
In association with The Florida Institute of Technology, Martin created Gbotz Industries to develop 3D printers for the 2014 summer camp. In this camp the students built 60 3D printers from kits make by Gbotz Industries. From 2014 to today Martin became more involved in the industry and eventually opened with David Beavers, Tabitha Beavers, an associated business, Project Based Learning and with the approval of MIT the Fab Lab. This is currently expanding and in 2015 is set to create a very useful incubation space for local businesses and students alike.
