Space Coast Chapter Meeting - Apr. 5, 2018 - Applying Systems Engineering Thinking and Exportability Constraints to Product Design and Collaboration
Melbourne , USA
Florida Tech, 150 W. University Blvd
This will be our regular Chapter meeting for the month. Food & drink are provided at no charge - just let us know you are coming.
Topic: Applying Systems Engineering Thinking and Exportability Constraints to Product Design and Collaboration
Speaker: Dr. Bob Duerr
About the Presentation:
Internationalization of defense and commercial markets, especially at the R&D stages of acquisition, offers significant program benefits in light of increasing budget pressures both within the United States and allied partner nations. In order to effectively reap the possible benefits, international joint development and production programs must not just economic considerations but technology sharing feasibility to achieve successful outcomes. Countries that are global leaders in technology often implement demanding bureaucratic processes through export regulations to protect their investments in capabilities, including defense and force protection, and industrial base. Understanding and consideration of the external constraints of the regulatory environment on technology sharing can inform early stages of system architecture development and program structure, potentially resulting in improved participation among international customers and industrial partners and suppliers.
