: Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) seek to automate operations through device-to-device connectivity. These highly connected systems represent a paradigm shift in terms of communications and interoperability. For this reason, a systems approach is necessary to model architectures and enable the integration of different components across the value chains starting from the design phase. This presentation will introduce a SysML model of freight systems that allows to document interfaces between the different stakeholders of the value chains.
Dr. Aldo Fabregas currently works as a professor of Systems Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology. He obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of South Florida and his Master and Industrial Engineer degree from Universidad del Norte in Colombia. His research areas include model-based systems engineering with applications in manufacturing, transportation and energy. Dr. Fabregas is currently the president of the INCOSE Space Coast chapter in Florida, USA.
Dr. Rodrigo Mesa-Arango is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at the Florida Institute of Technology. He received his Ph.D. degree from Purdue University in Transportation Engineering and Infrastructure Systems. Rodrigo teaches courses on Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, Data Analysis, Engineering Economics, and Game Theory. His research focus on decision theory, demand estimation, entrepreneurial engineering, extended reality for smart cities and supply chain systems.
