Model-Based Engineering (MBE) in general has been in the forefront of Digital Transformation initiatives. To enable true model-based approaches across entire enterprises and ecosystems, manufacturing needs to be made part of such initiatives. Only this allows for a true Industry 4.0 enablement in the manufacturing sector.
Model-Based Definition (MBD) plays a central role in that regard while the Quality Information Framework (QIF) is a key driver that enables interoperability across domains and organization and provides the framework for model-based automation.
To bring the idea of MBD and QIF to this working group, the panel will discuss the overall MBD understanding, the various areas involved, such as
• Metrology
• Digital Manufacturing
• Digital Thread
• Digital Twin
• OEMs and Supply Chain
its benefits and overall implementation status as well as how QIF contributes to the overall success of MBD. Furthermore, we will touch upon what does it mean in the context of simulation and systems engineering
