An "Innovation Accelerator" Conference and Workshop Event - Streamed from Detroit, Michigan, USA

What is innovation? - Innovation has been defined as "the creation of something that improves the way we live our lives,” "something fresh (new, original, or improved) that creates value," "an idea that adds value” and "significant positive change.” Most agree that innovation is important, if not essential, for success and continued survival.

Navigating the innovation process - With today's rapid advancements in science, technology and engineering, we find ourselves in a world that is becoming increasingly more complex and uncertain. Even if an innovation is itself simple, this can the make it more challenging to innovate efficiently and successfully. 

What is the solution? - In large complex systems and systems of systems (such as transportation, cities, and electrification infrastructure), having access to, and leveraging, specific essential and key information, knowledge, skills, methods, tools, techniques, equipment, facilities and technologies can help enable and accelerate successful innovation. The purpose of this conference and workshop event is to enable you to identify, tap into, and take advantage of the key innovation ingredients you need to bring your ideas to fruition.

    Cost to Attend (preliminary):

    • Planned Pricing of the "In-Person" Registration is $147 to $297 ($47 Students)
    • Planned Pricing for Virtual Registration is from $47 to $97 USD ($27 Students).
    • Purchase of a Virtual Registration will enable attendees to view and interact in the sessions "live" during the event, and to access the virtual conference platform, to watch the recording and download slides, for an additional 30 days.
    • Three of the MBSE Workshops will provide you a certificate if you attend "live." These cost an additional $20-$50 ($10-$25 Students).

    Event Description

    Attend and Engage from Anywhere!

    With the latest in interactive hybrid (in-person + virtual) conferencing technology provided by the on-site AV/IT provider and KMD Events (providing virtual event platform managed from Toulouse, France) there will be three ways to participate and access event content. 

    • Attend in-person in Detroit, Michigan USA, Spring of 2023 (dates to be announced), and join the ACM Tour*
    • Attend virtually from anywhere in the world (with live interaction), using the virtual event platform (internet connection required).
    • Continued 30-Day Access - From anywhere in the world, 24/7, view the session video recordings and download presentation slides both during the event and for 30 says after the event.

        * All attendees, including those attending in-person, will be given full access to the event's virtual platform during the event and for 30 days after the event.

    Event Schedule and Timeline

    The planned event timeline is based on a 9am-5pm business hours daily schedule in the time zone of the in-person  venue location (Detroit, Michigan USA), i.e., 9am-5pm EDT. The "live" portion of the event is "in-person only" and is planned to begin at 1pm EDT with an "in-person only" private tour of the American Center for Mobility (ACM) Willow Run autonomous vehicle development and test track site in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The "live" conference and workshop part of the event opens at 9:00am EDT on Day 1 of the event program and ends at 5pm EDT on Day 3 of the event. The full event timeline, is as follows:

    • Pre-event Tour (1-4pm EDT) - In-person private tour of the American Center for Mobility (ACM), Willow Run autonomous vehicle developmental and test track facility, Ypsilanti, Michigan USA. Limited to 40 people.
    • Day 1 and 2 (9am-5pm EDT) - Two tracks (in parallel) containing informational and educational presentations, discussions, workshops and tutorials. Both tracks run all day and are interactive.
    • Day 3 (9am-5pm EDT) - "System Engineering of an Off-Grid Electrical Supply" MBSE Workshop. and, for in-person attendees, a visit to the Motown Museum, Detroit, Michigan, USA.

    30 Day Viewing - The event's virtual platform will remain available for 30 days after the in-person event takes place. Attendees will be able to view session recording and view/download presentation slides.  Also, depending on interest level and commitment from an organizing leader, there is opportunity to schedule interactive (virtual-only) follow-up and discussion sessions.

    Themes and Topic Areas

    While much of the conference and workshop informational and educational value is of general interest to engineers, planners, managers and executives from a board spectrum of domains and industries, there is focus on the following themes and topic areas which are intended to bring together and connect individuals and groups who may benefit from discussions and information sharing on same and similar topics. This event includes presentations, discussions, workshops and tutorial on the following:

    • System Modeling, Digital Engineering, Cybersecurity, and MBSE/SysML
    • Smart Cities and Urban Planning
    • NASA and State of Michigan Resources and Programs for Technology Transfer, Small Business, Start-ups and Incubators, and featuring  information from Michigan's Office of Future Mobility and Electrification (OFME), the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), and Pure Michigan Business Connect (PMBC).
    • Knowledge, information and technology sharing in the theme area of "Mobility Systems: Land, Sea, Air and Space" (e.g., cross-fertilization between the automotive, marine, aerospace and space industries)

    NOTE: The event's STEM/STEAM Career Development Program is facilitated via the conference's virtual platform linkage to the INCOSE Virtual Student Career Fair, which emphasizes internship, new-hire, and entry-level job openings and information and services for students.

    • Overview presentation and tour the 500 acre grounds, autonomous vehicle test track, and development and test faculties

    • The ACM is a collaborative effort comprised of government, industry and academic organizations focused on accelerating the mobility transportation industry.
    Motown Museum:  Runs 10am-5pm EDT Day 3

        The Planned In-Person Venue for this event, depending on availability, is The Westin Book Cadillac.

        The Westin Book Cadillac Hotel and Conference Center, is a Marriott property located downtown Detroit, Michigan, USA. It is a registered building in the National Historic District. This event was originally planned for Oct 4-7, 2022 at the Westin Book Cadillac. Rescheduling is in process. If it is not possible to hold the rescheduled event at the Westin Book Cadillac, a suitable venue nearby will be selected.
