Welcome to the Atlanta Chapter

The Atlanta Chapter was formed in 2005 through the efforts of several local Atlanta INCOSE members with the help of South Carolina and Alabama members. The chapter has been active, earning Silver and Bronze Circle Awards almost every year. The chapter continues to stay actively engaged in INCOSE and the broader Systems Engineering community today.

We meet monthly for talks, workshops, socials, and to discuss the state of Systems Engineering on a national level. Our normal meeting location is Kennesaw State University in Marietta, or Georgia Tech in Atlanta. The Chapter membership is made up of representatives from Aerospace, Energy, Academia, Government to name a few. Our members range from college undergraduates to seasoned veterans of Systems Engineering.

UK Chapter Press Release: The fourth addition to the Don’t Panic! Series: Don’t Panic!- The Absolute Beginner’s Guide To Architecture And Architecting

Mar 11, 2021, 14:23 PM by Danielle DeRoche
INCOSE UK is delighted to announce the release of another addition to the Don’t Panic! book series - Don’t Panic- The Absolute Beginner’s Guide To Architecture And Architecting by Mike Wilkinson and Tim Rabbets.

The book focuses on Architecture in Systems Engineering, aiming to dispel the perception held my many that Architecture in Systems Engineering is elusive, abstract, complex and difficult to understand.

Mike Wilkinson said “Architecture is all about fundamental structure and properties and is one of the most powerful system concepts.”

Tim Rabbets went on to say “Architecture lies at the heart of Systems Engineering. Systems Architecting brings disciplined thinking to articulating and addressing the essentials of a system in terms of scope and order of architectural consideration.”

INCOSE UK president Ian Gibson said “The continued growth in our Don’t Panic series to four titles, with several more under development, is a real testament to the dedication of our members and their willingness to share their expert knowledge in an easily digestible format. Mike and Tim deserve our thanks and congratulations for their efforts to demystify this subject into a Don’t Panic guide; and for their efforts over the years to develop and promote best practice in developing system architectures.”

You can buy a copy of Don’t Panic - The Absolute Beginner’s Guide To Architecture And Architecting by visiting the INCOSE UK online store.

INCOSE UK
INCOSE UK is a Professional Engineering Institution licensed by the Engineering Council. INCOSE UK acts as the UK Chapter of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), a not-for-profit membership organisation founded to develop and disseminate the interdisciplinary principles and practices that enable the realisation of successful systems. INCOSE UK is administered by INCOSE UK Ltd.

INCOSE UK holds an annual conference and a set of training events each year; has active regional, working and special interest groups; and publishes a variety of books, guides and other products tailored for UK members. Despite its focus on UK-specific needs, INCOSE UK attracts members from all around the globe. The ‘flavour’ of Systems Engineering most prevalent in the UK has developed into an open and inclusive practice that facilitates the application of Systems Thinking and Systems Engineering principles in domains outside of the traditional domains of defence and aerospace. In recent years, the membership of INCOSE UK has widened significantly from its roots, expanding to include domains such as: automotive, rail, energy, civil engineering, space, medicine, and security.
