Welcome to the Heartland Chapter

Welcome to the INCOSE Heartland Chapter home page!  On this site, you will find information about upcoming events, activities that we sponsor, news items of interest to the Heartland chapter community, and chapter resources.

The INCOSE Heartland Chapter serves INCOSE Members and the Systems Engineering (SE) community within the state of Iowa and some areas immediately surrounding Iowa. Although the chapter generally operates centrally out of the Cedar Rapids and Waterloo areas, the chapter does have a local presence in other cities. In addition, access to meetings and other activities is provided over the internet to the extent possible.

2019 Annual INCOSE Western States Regional Conference (WSRC)

Systems Engineering Relevance: Time for a Sea Change!

13-15 September 2019 | Los Angeles, California

Explore the theme and the topics for the WSRC 2019.

The Future State of Systems Engineering, according to the INCOSE Vision 2025, will make significant strides in meeting the challenges and needs of the global environment, human and societal needs, policy and business challenges, as well as the technologies that underlie systems.  Its relevance and influence will go beyond traditional aerospace and defense systems and extend into the broader realm of engineered, natural and social systems.

WSRC2019 has tracks being formed to address SE Application to Healthcare and Medical Devices and SE in Large Observatories being developed to explore the farthest reaches of the universe.

Submit your abstracts to explore other traditional and non-traditional areas that benefit or struggle with the application of Systems Engineering.  The call for proposals is now out.  See the Programs link.  Check back often for the latest.

WSRC2019 is for the entire western region of the United States community – not just INCOSE members and not just systems engineers.  Our community is connected by our shared interest in the successful advance of systems vital to our regional and global prosperity.

WSRC2019 will feature an INCOSE SE Professional Development Day (SE PDD).  The SE PDD will be a virtual extension of the conference, with the featured sessions broadcast from LMU to several satellite sites on Saturday the 14th of September.
