What is the INCOSE GLRC?

The INCOSE Great Lakes Regional Conference (GLRC) is an annual regional-level INCOSE conference celebrating its twelfth consecutive occurrence in 2018.  A high quality source of education and networking among and beyond INCOSE membership, GLRC has grown steadily since 2007. It has been hailed as an excellent model for INCOSE chapter co-operative conferencing efforts by INCOSE leadership at the international level. The GLRC is put on by the chapters of the Great Lakes Region of the America’s Sector of INCOSE. One chapter serves as the host chapter. The 11 Great Lakes chapters are shown below.

Held in September/October each year, GLRC is strategically set in-between INCOSE’s two main international events (the International Symposium (IS2018) in the summer and International Workshop (IW2018) in the winter). Lower cost and closer to the region’s members, the GLRC is a more intimate conference than the annual INCOSE International Symposium. Traditionally, many attendees have been from the Great Lakes area, but a significant percentage have been from other US regions and other countries.

The GLRC is three to four days in length, including pre- and/or post-event workshops, meetings, and activities. Core program is typically 2 days long, followed by optional tutorials and workshops in with the weekend. The program typically includes technical presentations, keynote speakers, INCOSE Working Group and chapter leader meetings, workshops, INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP/ASEP) exams, sponsors, exhibitors, banquet, networking, tours, social activities, etc.

GLRC2018 will be hosted by the INCOSE Crossroads of America Chapter for the second time, extending warm invitation to all parties interested in learning and advancing the application of systems engineering. Fall in Indiana is a highlight of the year, accompanied by festivals and celebrations of the state’s natural beauty at its most colorful time. Indiana is truly located at the Crossroads of America—a heartland of advanced manufacturing, world capital of orthopedics, home of aerospace and automotive racing and production, medical devices and pharmaceuticals research, engineering, and production, agriculture, and world-class higher education and research. During a time of rapid change and challenge, all of these community segments illustrate “Systems at the Crossroads”. Join us at GLRC 2018 and engage in the related activities!
