Through her career, she has served as engineer/scientist, author, editor, manager, Professor, researcher, and systems engineer with 40 years of combined experience in industry and academia. She is certified by INCOSE as an Expert Systems Engineer Practitioner with Acquisition (ESEP-ACQ) and by PMI as a Project Management Professional (PMP). She previously earned a Ph.D. in Systems Engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ; an M.B.A. from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA; and a B.S.E.E from University of Maryland, College, Park, MD.
Dr. Squires has been part of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) for over 20 years. She was a core team member of the Body of Knowledge and Curriculum to Advance Systems Engineering effort that produced “The Guide to the Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge” and the “Graduate Reference Curriculum for Systems Engineering”. She founded the Empowering Women Leaders in Systems Engineering (EWLSE) initiative that produced the INCOSE Insight “Diversity and Systems Engineering” edition, “Letters to My Younger Self: How Systems Engineering Changed My Life” and “Emerging Trends in Systems Engineering Leadership: Practical Research from Women Leaders”. She proactively supports diversity, equity, and inclusion considerations as critical enablers of successful systems engineering and leadership.
Of note, Dr. Squires was a key contributing member of both the American Society of Engineering Education Diversity Committee awarded the 2016 Women in Engineering Pro-Active Network Strategic Partner Award; and the Body of Knowledge and Curriculum in Systems Engineering core team awarded the 2012 Product of the Year Award by INCOSE. IEEE-USA published her eBook “Dandelion Wishes: A World Where We Collaborate as Equals (Book 21)” in 2018 that is now part of a 24-book IEEE-USA collection - that describes her engineering journey including her love of engineering and her strategies for overcoming obstacles.
Dr. Squires enjoys spending time cycling, swimming, writing, playing pickleball, and advocating for others.
