Continuing Professional Development (PDUs)

Professional Development Units (PDUs) demonstrate your continued commitment to learning and the practice of systems engineering. Earn PDUs through activities such as:
- Technical Society Participation: INCOSE events, webinars, workshops
- SE Coursework & Publications: Systems engineering courses, publishing technical papers
- SE Job Functions: Applying systems engineering skills in your professional role
Certification holders must document a minimum of 120 PDUs for renewal.
How to Renew
How to Renew Your SEP Certification
- Log in to your INCOSE profile at portal.incose.org.
- Access your certification: Select the Certification tab in the left-hand menu and choose the option to renew or upgrade your current certification.
- Once directed to the certification hub, select the renewal option and complete the requirements for your certification level:
- ASEP or CSEP: Document at least 120 PDUs and submit payment. Applies to members and non-members.
- ESEP (non-members): Upload the ESEP Renewal Form.
- ESEP (members): Continued leadership and engagement are verified through active INCOSE membership.
Note: INCOSE members benefit from discounted certification renewal fees.
Maintain Certification
You’ve earned your ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP. Now make the most of it. Find guidance on displaying the SEP logo, presentation materials for sharing the program with colleagues, ways to volunteer with the Certification Program, and renewal requirements. ASEPs and CSEPs renew through ongoing professional development. ESEPs are expected to keep learning but don’t submit documentation.
Reinstatements (Late Renewals)
Reinstatement requirements and fees for lapsed SEPs depend on the number of months since expiration. A Reactivation Fee, based on the length of lapse, applies in addition to the standard renewal fee. Additional PDUs may also be required, depending on how long the certification has been expired.
