Systems engineering is the foundation on which the life cycle of any complex system is based: from its conception and design to its validation, operation, and retirement. However, in Spain it continues to be, in many cases, a “silent engine” of the industry: a practice widely used but not always recognized as a strategic discipline. While in countries such as the United States or other European countries systems engineering is fully established, in Spain its application often gets diluted within more traditional technical structures, fostering organizational silos and limiting a truly systemic perspective.
This directly impacts the efficiency, competitiveness, and innovation of the industry and talent in our country. Sectors such as aerospace, transportation, naval, and defense constantly apply systems engineering, although not always under the same name. In the current geopolitical context —marked by new needs in defense, in technological and space sovereignty, and in international competitiveness— and at the same time in an environment where emerging technologies allow smaller players to compete with great agility (as happens with drones or CubeSats), it becomes essential to strengthen and make this discipline visible.
From INCOSE Spain – AEIS we organize this event with the purpose of: Uniting and strengthening the systems engineering community in Spain. Generating debate about the current strategic challenges of Engineering in Spain. Sharing experiences and applicable best practices, thus promoting professional development and the adoption of new methodologies. Creating a networking space between industry, academia, and professionals. It is an invitation to connect, learn, and inspire — transforming systems engineering into a visible and strategic element for the Spanish industry.
Target audience: Professionals in the sector, whether or not they are members of INCOSE, but who are committed to, practice, or are interested in systems engineering. Executives of companies that have systems engineering in their management portfolio. Members and active participants of INCOSE. Students who wish to learn more and discover the opportunities that systems engineering brings.
