Abstract: How will Configuration Management and Product Lifecycle Management evolve with the development of data-driven and model-based approaches?
-The ecosystem of the enterprise is evolving in the digital engineering era.
A data-centric infrastructure allows an enterprise to have an end-to-end connection between artifacts along the full lifecycle.
-Models are becoming an essential element in the overall approach of our products when implementing concepts such as a digital twin.
-How could we evolve toward a model-centric enterprise?
– What are the needed adaptations of configuration management practices and of lifecycle management principles?
These are the questions we raised to Jos Voskuil, known from his blog VirtualDutchman.com, who accepted the challenge to share with us his vision of the profound changes that accompany the evolution of systems engineering, the digitalization of data and artefacts, while not forgetting the benefits that come with it.
Please join us for this travel through some questions we probably all share, whether involved directly as configuration management professionals or not, as these transformations impact all the stakeholders involved along the lifecycle of any product.
Biography’s:
Jos Voskuil:Jos Voskuil – probably better known for his blog VirtualDutchman.com—began his career in data management in 1995, later as a PLM implementer, trainer, and coach, being the bridge or translator between solution providers, implementers, and customers. Through his coaching-based approach, Jos has built extensive expertise in guiding organizations on their PLM journey, always emphasizing the human side of change.
Today, he focuses on promoting modern, data-driven strategies for PLM and advancing the vision of a model-based enterprise—addressing not only the business and technological aspects but also the organizational impact. In that context, the visible synergy between modern Configuration Management and PLM practices has been a topic of his interest. Jos is also the co-founder of the PLM Global Green Alliance, which unites PLM professionals in leveraging technology for a sustainable future.
Sandrine Gonthier: Sandrine has 35 years of experience in the space and aerospace-defense sectors, beginning with 15 years as an engineer specializing in electronic design and advanced studies in digital signal processing for space programs. She then transitioned to Configuration Management, serving as Configuration Manager for complex space systems and leading process management in configuration management, data management, and customer services. Additionally, she served as a business referent for the development, methodologies, and application of end to end product lifecycle management in complex space programs. Currently, she is a Configuration Management Expert providing expertise, assessments or audits, and coaching to cross-functional teams across multinational business units within her company.
She received her Engineering diploma in Electrical Engineering as well as a degree in Acoustic (DEA) both in 1989 from Institute of Applied Technologies Lyon (INSA Lyon). She is a certified CM2-Professional by the Institute for Process Excellence (IpX).
She is involved in INCOSE since 2020 and currently chairing the INCOSE Configuration Management Working Group.
Joep Mintjens: Joep has approximately 40 years of experience in the definition and implementation of Configuration Management and Product Lifecycle Management processes & solutions in a broad range of industries.
He has participated in several standardization initiatives defining industry best practices and creating implementation guidelines.
Currently he is acting as an independent Configuration Management consultant supporting companies in the fulfilment of compliance and traceability requirements.
