Managing the information and processes that are intrinsic to systems engineering efforts requires the identification and control of a range of enterprise data. This paper presents an approach to systems engineering management that is based on the concept of the “system record.” By capturing and managing the system record, an organization gains visibility into the five major content areas that feed the systems engineering effort and integrates these content areas within a managed process from the concept phase through retirement.
