The Standish Group recently made major waves when it reported a disturbing 50%+ failure rate among software development projects. It places the blame squarely on a number of factors including; failure to understand and deliver customer requirements to design personnel, lack of real time decision support in concert with requirements, as well as delivery mechanism to feed requirements to downstream development tools–all of which falls in CAD/CAE poor purview of systems architects.
