The systems engineering process, called the SIMILAR Process, is used to help explain baseball’s perceptual illusion of the rising fastball. This Systems Engineering process is comprised of the following seven tasks: State the problem, Investigate alternatives, Model the system, Integrate, Launch the system, Assess performance, and Re-evaluate.
