Quality Function Deployment (QFD) has been used to elucidate and negotiate requirements for at least 20 years. QFD has a lot to offer but when used to specify complex systems, has been found to have a number of deficiencies, has been perceived as a time consuming process and has been found as being difficult to apply to complex systems.
