This paper describes how modeling and simulation can be used to support the overall system engineering (SE) effort. The authors draw from their experiences as communications systems engineers in the 1.4 billion dollar “Iris” program in which the next generation of communication systems are being delivered to the Canadian army by Computing Devices Canada (CDC).
