With the advent of the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996 mandate to develop an enterprise information technology architecture, there has been a more intensive focus by all federal government agencies, and more specifically the DoD, on defining their instantiation of an Enterprise Architecture Framework. The Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF) was the first attempt to document the ground rules for various government agencies to develop their own architectures to be compliant with the intent of Clinger-Cohen.
