Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) techniques represent a unique opportunity to exploit solar energy from a source available 24 hours a day 365 days a year, can compete economically with conventional fossil fuel power plants, use minimal consumables, and produce virtually no harmful emissions. Large-scale commercial and industrial adoption of OTEC will be realized only if a clear economic advantage can be demonstrated based on accurate and complete economic modeling.
