The Crusader, a new, state of the art self propelled howitzer system for the US Army, has been designed and a firing prototype is in the field for test. However, the Army Chief of Staff has determined that a much more mobile and transportable system of armored vehicles is necessary for the US Army to successfully project force and respond to urgent situations on the battlefields of the future.
