The International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) have a Joint Technical Committee (JTC1) for the promulgation of Information Technology Standards. JTC1 is divided into a number of subcommittees (SCs), with SC7 having carriage for Software and Systems Engineering Standards.
