This paper describes how the use of decision analysis tools can enhance the systems engineering process. Two case studies are presented showing how the tool Criterium™ was used to select a supercomputer and to select a more accurate and less expensive inspection system for 20 foot aluminum I-beams that attach wings to airplanes.
