The Requirements Driven Development (RDD1) method and the Integrated Computer Aided Manufacturing (ICAM) DEEinition language (IDEF) methods are frequently considered competitively for use on a systems engineering project. The purpose of this paper is to clarify some of the ways in which the two method families are vastly different in modeling purpose, method philosophy, usage styles, underlying concepts and history.
