This paper summarizes work in progress to define and implement a risk management process tailored to a low-cost, high-risk NASA mission–the Microrover Flight Experiment (MFEX, commonly called the Mars microrover). The tailored risk management process is described along with the extensive data collection, documentation, and quantitative analyses that are being performed.
