The purpose of this paper is to provide a systems engineering approach in project management elaborated in the environment of a complex European aeronautical research project. This paper introduces to actual research activities in the area of preventive risk avoidance and proactive risk handling mechanisms in complex projects based on an Integrated Project Control Loop (IPCL) concept, as a means supporting the Project Management (PM) decision making throughout the project life cycle.
