The general recognition that the design process is iterative in nature presents the manager with a problem: how does one manage an iterative process? On the one hand, the manager would like to see a sequence of well defined tasks with well defined outputs. On the other hand, the design process may more strongly resemble a “search” process, in which the territory is unknown.
