Systems engineering has many lexicons and guides defining core terminology for the discipline, including ISO 15288, the InCoSE Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge (SEBoK), and the SysML specification. There have been many attempts to encode each source of knowledge in a formal representation known as an ontology.
