In order to establish a practical methodology of the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) application to satellite projects, to promote its practices, and to infuse MBSE to the Japanese space community, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has been implementing phased and progressive demonstrations of MBSE applications, using small demonstration satellite series, so called the Rapid Innovative Payload Demonstration Satellites (RAISE), as a demonstration pre-cursor. These RAISE satellites are 100kg-class flagships in the Innovative Satellite Technology Demonstration Program, which provides on-orbit demonstration opportunities for new technologies and key-components.
