“Requirements Creep,” the gradual increase in the average number of requirements specified for a given type of system, poses a formidable challenge to the future of systems engineering efforts. In such cases where the number of system-level requirements reaches into the hundreds (or even thousands), the tasks of identifying, decomposing, allocating, documenting and providing traceability of requirements quickly becomes a bookkeeping nightmare.
